Two older articles remind us that beauty products can be hazardous for your health when sourced from outside of a regulated environment. Both products were sold in so-called ethnic stores and could be and are still available on the internet for one of them (OSAS is).
One, Zero-Mark Natural Fairness Cream (Pitch it right now!) is a whitening cream, a real curse in some communities where women in particular experience pressure to whiten their skins sometimes at the risk of dying from it. This product has been found to contain 26mg/kg of lead! It's déjà vu all over again: remember blanc de céruse in 17th, 18th century Europe?
