The First USA National Beard & Moustache Championships, June 5, 2010, Bend, Oregon {Casting Calls & Beauty Contests} {Men's Grooming}
Exciting news for men who take their facial hair seriously, Beard Team USA is launching the first ever National Beard and Moustache Championships this June 2010. There are $5000 in prizes. The competition will be hosted by the current world champion, Jack Passion (pictured above.)
Pardon me for drooling down memory lane, but my first ever published article was a beauty and grooming story with an anthropological angle in my school newspaper when I was 12-13 years old and guess what, it was about Men's Beards in History (in French.)...

The topic was inspired by the young teachers we had who were on military duty and were all bearded for some reason. I even remember the illustration for my piece which I took out from Encylopaedia Britannica which showed all shapes and forms of beards across cultures and time.
Hey, Beard Team USA, you should check it out, I mean the encyclopedia, for inspiration. I have no idea where my paper is now, but I can relate to the the excitement when it comes to identifying creative facial hair styles.
So, menfolks if you would like to attend or compete, it's all going to take place in Bend, Oregon on June 5, 2010. Registratrion at http://beardteamusa.org/ is free. There is no selection process. It's a really welcoming, wide open organization and it's a first.
