Batiste Dry Shampoo in Blush Scent {Beauty Review - Hair} {Perfumed Beauty}
As summer is approaching, as well as beach and swimming times, and travel times, it's the high season to consider using dry shampoo. I had not kept the best of memories of my early attempts in that area. But let's say it was probably prehistoric time in terms of dry shampoo (I'm not a fan a priori of the concept.) Spying a small pink canister of British brand Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush, I decided to give it a go because the packaging looked hip in a vintage way and the shampoo smelled good in the Blush scent, a tropical white floral meant to help you escape to Hawaï or some such place...
I did feel a bit awkward spraying on the dry shampoo and thinking where is my mask, my goggles or anything to prevent the powder from getting into my eyes, but I just shut them and went on having made sure beforehand a window was open. My thoughts went to 18th century caricatural engravings showing French hairdressers on ladders dousing a court lady in powder while her face was safely ensconced into a paper cone.
The product feels tingly on the scalp on a first try, although for better or worse, your skin seems to adapt to it. Apart from that drawback (I'm not assessing the health hazards at this point as an episodis user), this is a very good product which brushes off easily. You spray on from a respectable distance of about 30 cm or 1 feet, then you massage the powder around your skull (use your finger cushions rather than nails for minimum stress to your scalp.) Then you are asked to preferrably use a natural-bristle hair-brush; I tested with a metallic brush as well and it did not come off as well. So, definitely count on using boar bristle. The scent is not overwhelming at all. It leaves really a faint trace in your bob or mane.
What is not advertized but really is a bonus, is the way in which Batiste lifts your hair roots and gives volume to your hair. So, if you were looking desperately into your mirror at flat, saggy hair and thinking you had to save on time, this will work its magic. It feels like using Elnett Lacquer to the point where you could easily work on a 60s look. The brand is aware of course of this quality and to drive the point home is going to soon launch the Batiste Dry Shampoo XXL Volume. The label is definitely going in the direction of Marie-Antoinette's towering hairdos.
The canister, I find, is über practical and cute. It's available in several sizes and can be had for as cheap as $2.95 on Amazon.com
