Angels of Florence by Officina Profumo–Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella {New Perfume} {Shopping Tip}

The Aedes de Venustas boutique has received the new perfume from Santa Maria Novella called Angels of Florence. It was officially meant to be released in November of 2006 but was introduced earlier due to public pressure created by an article in the Japanese press. The perfume was issued to help raise funds for the 18 000 books from the Biblioteca Nazionale of Florence that still await restoration after 40 years have elapsed since the 1966 flood. You can read more about it as well as the olfactory signature of Florence and Santa Maria Novella in particular in Florence's Heady Aromas Evoke the Past.....

The fragrance is dedicated to and named after the "Angels of the Mud" (Angeli di Fango) that is the people who voluntarily helped rescue the works or art and books from the devastation in the initial aftermath of the flood. If you want to help further, you can also visit the official website of the Angels of Florence foundation and sponsor other restoration projects....

The perfume Angels of Florence has floral notes of jasmine, lilac, rose, and gardenia. Vibrant notes of peach, plum and cinnamon. The base rests upon cedarwood. This description is from La Nazione. From Aedes we have a more detailed and slightly different description for the base: top notes are jasmine, Lilac, Rose, Gardenia, Ylang-Ylang, Geranium, Orange blossom and Bergamot. Heart notes are Peach, Prune, Melon, violet leaves, and cinnamon rind. Base notes are vanilla, sandalwood, white musk, and ambergris.

Aedes has a very good sample program thanks to which you can order 7 samples for $15.

I think that this would make a wonderful gift for people who love art, perfume, history, charity, and Italy.
