Isabelle Serranti is a natural perfumer based in Amherst, Massachusetts and her perfume brand is called Desire in Sunlight. She has released two new perfumes in her Vaux-Le-Vicomte series inspired by the beauty of the masterpiece of 17th century European architecture that is the château of Vaux-Le-Vicomte as well as the dramatic history surrounding it. They are titled Le Jardin and La Fête and come after Le Rêve.

(The blue shoe evokes La Fête)

The castle was so lavishly constructed and its owner, Fouquet, so visibly ambitious that the Sun King Louis XIV took umbrage and had him imprisoned for life after he gave an extraordinary celebration there that has remained famous in the annals of history. As Voltaire succinctly put it, "On 17 August [1661], at six in the evening Fouquet was the King of France: at two in the morning he was nobody." Louis XIV would go on to build Versailles with the help of the designers for Vaux-Le-Vicomte: Le Vau, Le Brun, Le Nôtre........

According to the press release,

"Le Jardin for Vaux le Vicomte

An intelligently layered perfumed inspired by the parterres, mossy fountains and expressive sculptures of this famed holographic masterpiece that set the senses on a sublime uplifting journey.

This striking emerald juice begins with a bouquet of Douglas Fir and Greek Myrtle opening to a vista of Violet Leaf and Galbanum Honey, then deepening to the soul notes of Vetyver and Maté.

La Féte for Vaux le Vicomte

17th of August 1661… the night of the most glorious party! A musky floral layered with thousands of candles, gleaming skin and the sounds of laughter and dancing in the oval salon, fireworks among the stars, Vatel's unforgettable artistry and showing the last brilliant vision of Fouquet.

This gorgeous composition enchants one like a woman at the height of her allure… tarragon and bitter orange invite one to the perfume dancing on the skin unfurling to the mixture of exquisite orange flower absolute and Florentine iris layered over the beautifully exotic soul notes of Kewra attar and Honey Bee."
