La Femme, L'Homme by Sahlini (2006) {New Fragrances}
Cécile Martin, a young French perfume designer, founder and owner of Sahlini Parfums wanted to combine the contrasted perfumery traditions of her Indian origins and Western upbringing. In 2006 she released a duo of perfumes called La Femme and L'Homme, which have become better publicized since then (French Elle Oct 2007). More perfumes are to come (Shahs).
La Femme is described as a delicate Indian oriental. It features top notes of fresh notes, orange blossom; heart notes are jasmine, tuberose, and patchouli; base notes are sandalwood, vanilla, and musk.......
L'Homme is said to be more of a fresh aromatic scent in the Western tradition and designed to be "very manly". Top notes are marine notes, petit grain, and bergamot; heart notes are rosemary, pine, muguet, and clove; base notes are jasmine, nutmeg, cedar wood, and white musk.
Sahlini perfumes can be found in the Douglas perfumeries. In October 2007 in order to stress the Indian roots of the perfumes, an animation was organized with hostesses dressed in saris.

Dear Marie-Helene,
The notion of contrasting East and West in terms of scent holds a fascination for me. For that reason. Femme has caught my attention. Have you tried it dear M=H? For my nose it has all the essences I like especially the sandlewood musk base !
Dear Madelyn,
No, I haven't, but I would love to!
