John Varvatos Eau de Parfum for Women (2008) {New Fragrance}
John Varvatos Eau de Parfum is described as belonging to the family of floral chypres. According to WWD,
"In addition to aromatic grappa, the scent's top notes include Georgian apricot, Damascus plum and golden mandarin. At the heart of the scent are accords of rubrum lily, Indian mango blossom, Egyptian jasmine and Turkish rose. The base of the scent includes oakmoss, patchouli, tonka beans and wild honey."
The shape of the flacon designed by Doug Lloyd and made by the Pochet manufactures is inspired by a Grappa bottle, just like the men's scents were inspired by flasks.
The release of the perfume will be gradual starting in February of 2008 at Saks and unconventionally in parfum concentration with 50% of oils, 0.5 oz. for $125. The eaux de parfum will follow in the spring, for $92 and $70.
Varvatos is said to be working on a third masculine scent to be expected by 2009.
Oh, wait, let me make room in the "been there/done that" bin for ANOTHER fruity floral. Will no one rid me of this troublesome mix?
no, no, no, it's a chypre! it could be a very good thing! the notes look very promising!
Well, let's just say it's supposed to be a chypre, but it looks like a fruity floral in drag, acting like a chypre, but just at the base. If I line up the fruity floral notes, they outweigh the oakmoss by about a ton. But I'll admit, as a chypre fanatic, I am interested.
No! It is really one of the most fantastic perfumes I have ever worn. The first day I smelled it I fell in love with it. I don't feel it is a fruity-floral nor straight chyphre, it is a beautiful scent of femininity.
Today I decided that I needed a new perfume, and after testing so many that I felt lightheaded, I found this. Needless to say I purchased it immediately and am VERY happy! It is a really beautiful scent.
Also, just so you know, I've added a link to your website from mine (because I love reading your reviews so much)!. My website is thedailydoll.wordpress.com
