Miller Harris Cologne 1888: A Redux of Le Petit Grain? {Fragrance News} {New Perfume}
Fairmont Hotels and Resorts have announced that perfumer Lyn Harris of Miller Harris has designed an exclusive eau de cologne for the chain called Cologne 1888. It is named after the date of foundation of one of the hotels in the chain, the Fairmont Banff Springs styled after a baronial Scottish castle and located in the Rocky mountain.
"They’ve created a bespoke or unique custom-blended scent developed for one - and only one - customer.
That customer is Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.".....
This news comes after the announcement of an upcoming new family cologne by the same house called Le Petit Grain expected to launch this month in the UK and in the fall in the US. According to both descriptions of scents, it looks like the Cologne 1888 might be a bit simpler, but a note description is always selective in the information it gives out so there is really no telling except by sniffing both brews.
"What makes this custom fragrance so exceptional is the use of precious ingredients. Cologne 1888 blends a divine note of bitter orange, bergamot, Sicilian lemon, marjoram, thyme, basil and rosemary with a base of musk and amber and the velvetiness of petit grain."
Rather than a redux of Le Petit Grain, we can assume that Lyn Harris was busy thinking about eaux de cologne in general and that these look like two different versions of her cogitations on the genre.
