As announced earlier, Creed now has a boutique on Madison Avenue. It opened to the public today.
Among its current forty scent offerings, one can note the presence of a rare limited-edition of Creed Windsor, a fragrance which was custom-ordered by then King Edward VIII and which is available in limited supply. The re-edition of the perfume dating from 1936 coincides with the 250th anniversary of the house.
According to the press release,
"The Duke ordered the scent from CREED when he was King Edward VIII of England, a position he quit to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson. Now CREED clients in the U.S. have the rare chance to experience this fragrance that is part of one of the most dramatic and romantic chapters in British and American history."...
"With ingredients from around the British empire including British gin, Canadian cedar, Jamaican lime and Australian eucalyptus, CREED Windsor is offered in a masculine black leather-wrapped shatterproof bottle. Honoring Edward VIII's role as the only air pilot to be king, the bottle is legal for aircraft carry-on at 1.7 ounces.Address: 794 Madison Avenue at 67th Street (store phone 1-877-CREED-44)
Just 300 bottles will be offered in the U.S., priced at $405 each. Windsor is also offered in 8.4 ounce decanters signed by sixth-generation master perfumer Olivier CREED in Paris and numbered by laser, $605.
Items in the CREED store can be acquired for as little as $30 for a bar of hand-milled soap -- the same soap CREED donates to U.S. soldiers in Iraq."
