Van Cleef & Arpels Oriens (2010) {New Perfume}
Van Cleef & Arpels will introduce a new women's perfume in March of 2010 called Oriens, Latin for the Orient. The fruity floral chypre was composed by perfumer Bernard Ellena of Symrise in collaboration with licence holder Inter Parfums SA. The nose is from a family of perfumers which includes brother Jean-Claude Ellena and niece Céline Ellena....
Joël Desgrippes designed the baroque, if not rococo, flacon seeking inspiration in a tourmaline ring from the jewelry house.
The fragrance, which is said to be a member of a new family of perfumes created a few years ago, has opening notes of mandarin, raspberry and blackcurrant; Core body notes include jasmine petals; while patchouli and praline are the lingering notes.
"The 100-, 50- and 30-ml. eau de parfum sprays will retail for 100 euros, 68 euros and 42 euros, or $151, $102.70 and $63.40 at current exchange rates, in France. The 150-ml. body milk is to be priced at 30 euros, or $45.30."
In the US, the perfume will launch as a Neiman Marcus exclusive.
