Project Sultan by Bertrand Duchaufour for l'Artisan Parfumeur {Fragrance News}

The scoop of the day is that L'Artisan Parfumeur are working on an upcoming new perfume to be released this fall 2010 inspired by their perfumer's travels to Turkey. Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, the resident nose for the house, is once more at the helm of this composition which for now is only known under the code name "Project Sultan,"...

I am particularly excited after having learned that the source of the inspiration is none other than Istanbul! With such an atmospheric city as a backdrop, and seeing how Duchaufour's creativity has become unleashed in recent times, it is bound to be interesting.

The National Brand Manager for the USA, Celene Aguilar, said that the personality of the scent can be best described as being "very heady, powdery and sensual,"

"Project Sultan", which will have another name by then, will first be exclusively available at Henri Bendel for a period of time then will be rolled out elsewhere in time for the Holidays.

  1. So exciting! I love BD's works and Istanbul is the first foreign city I ever visited. It's a wonder of living history.

    • I know, there could be such great fragrances inspired by the many facets of Istanbul! Perfume renders complexity well, so the fact that Istanbul is turned into a perfume is apt. It's also a city with many interesting aromas. Like for example in winter the mix of fog, coal, hot sahlep sold on the streets, Turkish cigarette second-hand smoke, sesame seeds on simits...Very much looking forward to this one too!
