Natalie Portman is the New Miss Dior Chérie {Fragrance News} {Celebrity Scent} {Perfume Images & Ads}
Dior have unveiled the first images of the new Miss Dior Chérie campaign featuring actress Natalie Portman (see her also at the Dior boutique inauguration in NYC with John Galliano right after the jump.) It will be a way, as we see it, to underline the versatility of the perfume itself which might be thought to be mainly targeting very young women,...
but is actually a delightful, witty and very Parisian to my nose concoction that any woman at any age can adopt provided they have a little bit of humor and don't mind mixing strawberries and popcorn.
Sidney Toledano, CEO of Dior, Natalie Portman, John Galliano at the reopening of the Dior boutique in NYC on Dec 8, 2010.
Portman suceeds model Maryna Linchuk bringing a new level of depth to the image of Miss Dior Chérie, all the more so since she will soon be seen on screens in her critically acclaimed role playing Nina in the Black Swan by Darren Aronofsky, a very tortuous portrayal of a woman torn between two sides of hers symbolized by the white and black swan.
For the fragrance, Natalie Portman will be featured in a commercial shot by Sofia Coppola together with actor Robert Schwartzman, who is the cousin of the director. It will be interesting to see whether Coppola departs a bit from her attraction towards prettiness, which can feel a bit stereotypical in the end, including in her movies.
For now, Portman appears cuter than she usually styles herself to be while offering a sultrier personality to la miss Dior. People who pay attention to this type of details, like the persons who organized the exhibition on blondes and brunettes in films at the Cinémathèque in Paris last fall will notice that we get a brunette Miss Dior Chérie after a blonde Miss Dior Chérie.
