Hussein Chalayan Airborne, with Comme des Garçons (2011) {New Perfume}
Fashion designer Hussein Chalayan will launch his debut fragrance in collaboration with perfume and fahsion house Comme des Garçons. The perfume is named Airborne, like his 2007 fall-winter collection.
The story behind the scent was to recreate his itinerary from being a Turkish citizen born in Cyprus to his life in Great Britain...
The composition is billed as an unisex scent. It features a host of Mediterranean notes, including Tunisian neroli, lemon from Syracuse, bergamot, lentiscus from Cyprus, juniper berry, incense, musk and cedarwood. At the same time, there seems to be a natural fit between the autobiographical palette of this scent and the palette of notes usually showcased by Comme des Garçons fragrances. The edgy label loves woody, incense-y and aromatic notes, which I would tag as pertaining to the realm of uncompromising-notes-beloved-by-perfumistas. Remind me to list those, and others, in a separate post.
Airborne will debut on July 21, 2011 at London’s Dover Street Market.
Price: $95 for 50 ml of Eau de Toilette.
