Happ & Stahns 1842 Rosa Alba (2010) {New Fragrance}

happ_stahn_rosa_alba.jpgIn 2010, Happ & Stahns launched their first perfume for the Anthropologie chain of stores called 1842 Rosa Alba. It was composed by perfumer Marypierre Julien of Givaudan....

Seemingly having escaped from an antiques store, the perfume is a whimsical, poetic wink in the direction of a 19th century institution for the well-bred, and not just for women, the finishing Grand Tour.

"Inspired by The Grand Tour - a trip across Europe enjoyed by young ladies in the 19th century as a finishing course to their educations - this ethereal floral scent evokes rose gardens, high teas and happy accidents. The eau de parfum is housed in an inkwell bottle topped with a pincushion and Victorian-inspired pins, while the more highly concentrated parfum is housed in replicas of crystal tear catchers from the era.

Notes include: pink peppercorns and Darjeeling tea are splashed with a burst of grapefruit, a dash of wisteria and the scent of ancient Alba roses, then softened with amber wood and cashmere musk (FLORAL).

Prices: $68 for 75 ml edp, $30 for 10 ml parfum; $26 for solid perfume.
