MAC Iris Apfel (2012): For All The Seasons of Life {Beauty Notes}
Iris Apfel is your dream of an eccentric, flamboyant grand-mother come true. From the top of her 90 years of existence, she dispenses style-cum-wisdom lessons without even trying at this point because what she shows is the result of decades of practice and instinct-in-action.
After an exhibition at the MET honored her and a book about it came out in 2005, Rare Bird of Fashion: The Irreverent Iris Apfel by Eric Boman with an introduction by Harold Koda and a contribution by Iris Apfel, her style and eye-glasses have been en route to acquiring iconic status...
The exhibition was relayed by Iris-Apfel window displays at Barney's.
Now MAC sees that her love of saturated colors is a natural match to their own dedicated mission in life.
Expect to see from January 2012 an Iris Apfel collection launching with the tag line "Her life is an open armoire." For the first time, MAC will look convincingly cool for all ages. Grand-mothers and grand-daughters will go shopping hand in hand. It will be a revolution.
