Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Lys Soleia (2012) {New Fragrance}

The new Guerlain spring-summer introduction in the Aqua Allegoria range has been unveiled: it will be a lily opus concocted by in-house perfumer Thierry Wasser. Named Lys Soleia, as its title indicates, it is a solar floral composition like the companion scent Tiaré-Mimosa was in 2009...

It succeeds to the Aqua Allegoria jasmine composition of last year, Jasminora.

The Eau de Toilette (125 ml) opens on head notes of bergamot, lemon and palm leaves. The heart is built on ylang-ylang, lily and tropical fruits. The base notes feature tuberose, vanilla and white musks.

The release is scheduled for April 2012.

For comparison purposes, one can turn to the recent 2011 Cartier Baiser Volé, a soliflore perfume aimed at capturing the vertical beauty of the bloom, from petals to stem. There is also Beauty by Calvin Klein which came onto the stage in 2010 and was advertized as a "neo-lily". Finally, a year further back, in 2009, there was Vanille Galante by Hermès.

Here is an article I wrote about the scent of red lilies in 2009.
