Byredo Parfums Black Saffron (2012) {New Perfume}

Byredo Parfums est. 2008 have introduced a new perfume in 2012 called Black Saffron. Like previous compositions from the house, it is a perfume about India as perceived by someone who is both inside and outside of Indian culture, Ben Gorham, the founder of the label, who has roots there but is also cosmopolitan...

As its name indicates, the eau de parfum composed by perfumer Jérôme Epinette, is about the precious floral spice, but going beyond that material aspect is seen as a synaesthetic cultural, and even religious, symbol.

“Saffron is holy to all Hindus, is the colour of Buddhist robes and has become a symbol for India. It has always been a part of BYREDO´s founders Indian upbringing both in smell, taste and colour. Black Saffron is a fragrance inspired by this very idea of sublime unity.”
