Van Cleef & Arpels are issuing a cherry blossom perfume from February 1, 2013 called Féerie Spring Blossom, a tip of the hat in the direction of the Hanami spring ritual from Japan. The new Eau de Toilette is a limited-edition and was composed by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu of Givaudan...

The Japanese tradition of cherry-blossom gazing has been de facto massively adopted via perfumery in Europe and the United States in recent years as more and more sakura scents have been made available as springtime nears.

It  ties in well with a taste for aquatic and clean perfumes, as well as fruity-floral ones. It is also bound to woo the prize that is the Asian market.

Maisondieu composed a fruity-floral which rests on an accord of cherry blossom, pink peppercorn and lychee. In the heart a floral bouquet unfolds with magnolia, peony and wild, delicate raspberry. The base is soft, with silken musks and tender tonka bean.

The flacon reprises the original Féerie one only tinting it pink and making do with the metallic branch motif.

Price: 64,50€ for 50 ml.
