Floris Malmaison Encore (2013): Comeback of a Beloved Carnation Fragrance {New Perfume}

Malmaison_Encore_Floris.jpg

Floris have released a new version of the beloved carnation perfume, Malmaison {See review} which had been discontinued. Its new self is called Malmaison Encore. In-house perfumer Shelagh Foyle had to use all of her expertise to try to be faithful to the original composition with the newly restricted palette of perfumery materials noses have to work with...

 "Since the introduction of the By Request service one fragrance has been requested more than any other – Malmaison. [...]

I have to admit to being a fervent admirer of the original, intensely carnation accord at its heart. So, it was with some trepidation that I sought to recapture the spirit and emotions that this fragrance embodied."

We think it's a good thing the house made it clear it's a new, reworked version, rather than try to disguise it. Plus the fact that they have taken the trouble to think about a fitting name for the new scent is great communication and inventive. We have not seen a perfume come back with this use of the phrase "an encore".
