Le Labo Lys 41 & Ylang 49: Imperfect Twins {New Fragrances} (2013)
Haute parfumerie brand Le Labo founded by French expats living in New York, Fabrice Penot and Edouard Roschi, two former L'Oréal execs, are preparing to launch two new perfumes in their Classic collection called Lys 41 and Ylang 49. They relied on two nose collaborators, and it took them all 3 years to complete the creative process although it's a bit of the dynamic of the "open work" which is at play here; when do you decide a perfume is finished?The first one was composed by perfumer Daphné Bugey of Firmenich and the second one is signed by perfumer Frank Voelkl, also of Firmenich...

Ylang 49, a floral chypre, is "a walk in the woods, a lush floral bouquet in your hand, listening to G. Gould's well-tempered clavier and realizing that a floral composition can go beyond flowers, in the same way a fugue in D minor is way beyond the D..." It features notes of Tahitian gardenia or Pua Noa Noa, ylang-ylang, patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, benzoin.
Both perfumes are offered at "extrait de parfum" concentration, 25% and 30% respectively, the latter being closer to what is called classically a "parfum" concentration.
The duo launches from June 2013.
