Prada Luna Rossa Extrême (2013) {New Fragrance} {Men's Cologne}
Prada have launched their latest men's fragrance entitled Luna Rossa Extrême, the first flanker to Luna Rossa issued in 2012.
It is inspired by the extreme challenges the America Cup sports team face when competing such as the ability to make split-second decisions on a catamaran going twice as fast as the wind. The team members, who total 80 persons at all level of the international preparation and competition, speak of the "quasi telepathic" communication which is needed in such unpredictable conditions, the result of intense mental, physical and technical training...
Mark Sirena, the skipper of Luna Rossa said, "In order to be competitive at the highest level, you have to reach the top by all means possible: preparation, innovation, tenacity, passion," adding, "Nothing equals the immense pride one feels when participating in this adventure,"
The Luna Rossa team was founded in 1997 by Prada's CEO Patrizio Bertelli and is reportedly considered like the dream team within the universe of the America Cup. The passion lived by these men is palpable, "The power of the wind and of the waves leaves us barely a fraction of a second to modify the trajectory of the boat. But when we manage to establish a symbiotic relationship between this machine made by men and the elements, it is a pure state of grace."
Perfumer Daniela Andrier of Givaudan reworked the original formula. The new fragrance is said to form an "ensemble which is powerful and perfectly balanced," An absolute of lavender offers its main olfactory signature to the perfume.
The eau de parfum opens on fresh, peppery notes of Italian bergamot, mature black pepper and lavander. The heart is ambery and sensual with notes of leather and balsamic labdanum creating a reassuring effect of robustness while juniper berries create a bridge between the black pepper and resinous notes. The base rests on a black vanilla and intense lavender absolute accord which is described as being "tenacious and moving" with the lavender entrusted with the role of skipper.
