Demeter Candy Cane Truffle (2013) {New Fragrance}
Demeter have added a new gourmand perfume to their Fragrance Library called Candy Cane Truffle. As its name indicates, it captures the scent of the popular Christmastime treat blended with chocolate...
"Peppermint Candy Canes are fabulous Christmas treats and decorations, but can be a bit overwhelming as a fragrance. So we made Candy Cane Truffle, using the chocolate notes to soften, round and balance the peppermint of the candy cane. The result is a surprisingly sophisticated, and shockingly wearable fragrance." The brand did some research and explain why the shape of the candy cane has a religious connotation,
"The first historical reference to the familiar cane shape goes back to 1670, when the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany, bent the sugar-sticks into canes to represent a shepherd's staff. In 1900 the first red-and-white striped candy canes appeared. Around the same time, candy-makers added peppermint and wintergreen flavors to their candy canes and those flavors then became the traditional favorites."
This reminds us of a tantalizing peppermint bark recipe with fleur de sel which might be just the thing to usher in the revelries...
