The new feminine fragrance is fronted by British model Edie Campbell.
A launch party took place in Paris in May 2014 to offer a preview of the perfume to industry insiders.
The new version is said to be a rock 'n roll interpretation of the original Opium concept. The composition is co-signed by four perfumers, namely Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne, Olivier Cresp and Honorine Blanc. The dark tonality of the perfume is suggested in particular by a main note of coffee. Other notes include pink peppercorn, orange blossom, jasmine, vanilla, patchouli and cedarwood.
This effort follows up on two other signficant flanker launches, Belle d'Opium and Opium Vapeurs de Parfum, which have been sources of disappointment for many aficions who like their florientals more seriously deep.
