Diane Pernet Launches Quatuor of Fragrances (2014) {New Perfumes}

Diane Pernet, a fashion silhouette recognizable a mile away & founder of a fashion short film festival, is turning to perfume  with To Be Honest, Wanted, In Pursuit of Magic and Shaded, the latter named after her blog A Shaded View on Fashion...

The fragrances were developed with perfumers and Intertrade Europe with the creative input of Celso Fadelli

It's become a dictum that perfumery helps sell fashion promoting it to a larger audience. In this case, the classic dynamic applies albeit applied to a more niche endeavor, i.e., "selling" a personality of the fashion world, her image, rather than her collections of clothes.

Pernet is known for sporting an eternal Spanish mantilla hooked onto a towering do à la Marie-Antoinette with insignas of a black widow such as literally, spider brooches and long, expressive, arachnean veils. This extraordinary costume is worn as casually by its creator as if it were a pair of jeans accompanied by flats. Pernet herself prefers to wear dramatic platform shoes. Like for Lagerfeld, it's a uniform concept. The only trace of color in this sepulchral ambience is the vividness of her red lipstick while she cultivates a moonish pallor. A Geisha aesthetic reveals its influence.

To be honest "captures the experience of stumbling upon an ancient church while walking trough the woods." Notes are myrrh, black pepper, cedar wood, patchouli, vetyver, leather and amber.

Wanted, which was initially named "Desired", evokes "an oriental garden as the mist rolls in". Notes are clove, juniper, and nutmeg "with a little musk accord in the air".

In Pursuit of Magic "creates a feeling as if you’ve entered a familiar yet parallel world". It's a citrus perfume which is both fresh and invigorating.

Shaded, the last one to have been developed, has notes of musk, gaiac wood and vetiver.

Diane Pernet Paris perfumes will launch from September 26, 2014 in Paris together with an exhibition of illustrations inspired by her silhouette.
