130 Street Photographies after the Paris Attacks - 130 photographies de rue, après les attentats de Paris - In Memoriam
It's almost 2016 and in the notoriously ephemeral world of street art, only the motto of the city of Paris, Fluctuat Nec Mergitur, seems to survive six weeks after the Paris Attacks as if the words imparted a talismanic property to the graffitis themselves.
So far, only some rather measured green, then red scribblings have been added on, the latter as if to symbolize the red of the blood that was shed, as the accounts from the Bataclan survivors in particular are coming in faster and more furious by now, letting you know about the extent of the massacre reminiscent of terror tactics used by Mongolian warriors from the middle ages who would build mounds made out of dead bodies to strike the fear of god in the hearts of the conquered populations...
If in this picture you see a mural art and a quiet corner of the Place de la République on an evening in December, outside of its frame there are strings of police vans protecting the area, as well as a demonstration going on on the issue of migrants to demand to show solidarity for their plight.
Life goes on, but it's different.
This photo is part of a series capturing the atmosphere of Paris after 11/13 in 130 pictures, one each day for each of the 130 Paris Attack victims.
