Lancôme are launching a new iteration of La Vie est Belle eau de parfum, their bestseller since 2012, called La Vie est Belle l'Eau de Toilette Florale. So happy are they with its success that they have been trying to prolong the pleasure of wearing it for its fans by coming up with twists, this time a floral, Southern-scent one around the complex scent of Osmanthus Fragrans or Sweet Olive...

Julia Roberts, whose broad and infectious smile inspired the very design of the bottle, continues to be the perfume's muse.

The new brew is said to be a crystalline fruity-floral and a musky floriental.

Perfumers Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion used an absolute of osmanthus in its floral heart. Osmanthus is reputed for its delicate nuances, of fruity apricot - only more ethereal - tea, and even leather.

Rose and violet leaves were added as counterpoints.

Faithful wearers will find the original sueded floral bouquet of mimosa, recreated freesia and Iris Pallida concrète; in the base, patchouli, amber, woods and musk anchor the composition.

The flacon is now decorated with a white flower and is more elongated.

While much effort has been put into worthy flankers of the original over the last four years, we find that so far, none have managed to recreate the perfect balance of it. But hope lives on and one can only wish that a breakthrough take place.
