Balmain Extatic Gold Musk (2016) {New Fragrance}
Balmain Extatic Gold Musk Eau de Toilette
The perfume arm of Balmain fashion house has launched a new flanker to what they consider today to be their « signature fragrance », Extatic (2014), called Extatic Gold Musk...
The composition is inspired by a palette of nude, cream and ivory colors which were seen on the Balmain fashion catwalks - as well as by silk and cotton textures. It is also a reminder of a previous house pilllar perfume of the 80s, Ivoire, still available after having been refreshed faithfully to meet EU norms.
Perfumer Sonia Constant of Givaudan composed a skin scent which is said to be airy, vaporous even, and velvety, leaving a lasting impression of white sueded leather on the skin.
The top opens with aldehydes and bergamot from Italy for a sensation of purity and radiance. To recreate the visual impression of whiteness shot through with gold, tiaré and gardenia were chosen as solar white flowers. The base was styled to feel intense and contrasted. On one level, there is a vertical woody accord of Akigalawood and Ambroxan. On the other level, a pillowy, comforting musk accord beckons with a precious, golden nuance of sandalwood and benzoin.
It is a priori interesting to see so much being expressed in eau de toilette concentration. This choice suggests a further, appealing and unadvertized contrasting effect.
