Comme des Garçons X Gosha Rubchinskiy (2016) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}
In 2016, Comme des Garçons launched a new fragrance in partnership with Russian photograher and fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy inspired by Moscow skateboarders on a summer day - and the sweet bird of youth...
CDG, a niche brand, specializes in celebrity perfumes of a more confidential nature than what is usually thought of in relation to this business branch. Since 2008, they have turned to figures who are celebrities for industry professionals, with a flavor of sub-culture, this time, the skateboarding community,
"Skateboarding on a summer day.
Wheels burning on the hot concrete sidewalk.
The smells of rubber and tar colliding to create a scent of youth and freedom."
The eau de toilette was composed by perfumer Alexis Dadier under the artistic direction of Christian Astuguevieille. The latter has explained that he is very much into the energy unleashed by the post-Soviet culture in the making. He makes frequent trips to Moscow just to imbibe the atmophere. The fragrance packaging reflects a sense of that post-Communist irony by referencing the red of an iconic perfume of the Soviet period, Krasnaja Moskva - and of course, the Red Square.
The fresh and peppery edt opens on top notes of Angelica Root ess, Buchu ess with a core of Mandarin Seed ess, Blue Chamomile ess and a base of Styrax ess, Vetiver ess Haiti, Patchouli ess.
